How to Train Your Cat

Cats are one of our favourite animals to keep as pets. Because they are attentive, alert, loyal, beautiful and protective. Cats are very affectionate but only when they are used to their owners, otherwise can be very arrogant and cheeky. If you love felines and love to play bingo online too you can visit kittybingo.tv where you’ll find a lot of trained cats such as the mascots Kitty Cat, Merlin and Granny Cat where they come in the live chat rooms and give out freebies. You’ll find different games, ongoing promotions and great bonuses to keep you entertained.

If you think about training your cat, it sounds like hard work. So, let’s look at how to facilitate your lives and get your feline on the road.

Call On Command

Cats familiarise themselves with different sounds around them daily. Before you call your cat to come and eat, or to let them know you’ve poured out some food for them. Make some sounds like hissing, shaking the food bag or calling out his/her name. Do this every day, preferably twice a day for 5 minutes and eventually they’ll get used to this and will come to you when they hear the call.

Potty Training

Buying litter can be costly. And it’s not difficult to train a cat to use the litter box. It is very possible for cats to use a toilet. Place your litterbox close to the toilet and move it closer every day until you’ve gotten the litter box on top of the toilet. Let your pet get used to this routine and eventually when he/she is used to this, remove the litter box entirely and you’ll enjoy a cleaner home and less efforts.

Ring The Door Bell

Hang a bell in front of your door. If he/she is stuck outside and there’s no other way in they will scratch viciously or meow loudly. Ignore the signs until they have rung the bell and reward them by opening the door and a tasty treat. Repeat this twice daily and you’ll never have to worry about scratch marks on your front door.

Hunting

If you fear rodents or insects, this little feline can help you with pest extermination as they are born with an instinct to hunt. Play with your cat using toys that have bells in them, this will help revive their instincts. Tie the toys to a string and walk or run with it to teach them how to chase and jump. Introduce different toys that look like mice and again tie it to a string and run with it to make your cat more alert. Present your cat with dead rodents or insects so they familiarise themselves with the smell of the prey. When your cat presents you with its first hunt, give it treats to encourage it or pet it. You’ll never have to worry about getting an exterminator again.

Accompanied By A Leash

A leash for a cat and a dog are two different things. Not all cats will comply being on a leash because they are hyper and agile. They are more of the “I do what I want, when I want” type of animals. But getting your cat to walk with a leash unlocks and sharpens more if its natural instincts. Get a back leash and place it in your cat’s favourite spots. Next try to place it on the cat while giving it a treat or petting it. The next day, try to fully attach it to your cat and let in wander with it. Finally, after a few days of doing this hold the leash and walk your cat.
